Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the death of a woman in Greenford.
Police were called at about 19:00hrs on Monday, 16 November to reports of a woman seriously injured in Braund Ave at the junction of Verulam Road, Greenford.
On arrival police discovered a 28-year-old woman in the street, suffering from a head injury and severed hand.
She was taken by ambulance to Charing Cross Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 23:19hrs.
Officers believe they know the woman’s identity and have informed next of kin however they await formal identification.
A post-mortem examination will take place later today, 17 November.
Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
A/DCI Andy Chalmers said: “When the victim was found we know that a lot of people were in the street and that several people may have tried to administer first aid before the police or ambulance arrived.
“These people left the scene before speaking to police and I would ask that anyone who was there, or anyone else who has information about the incident, call us in the strictest of confidence.”

Six men were arrested this morning in connection with this investigation and are currently in custody at West London police stations.
